Club Walk

A beautiful circular walk, St Mawgan to Mawgan Porth. Pretty woodland along the Vale of Lanherne following the river Menalhyl.

It’s not always easy choosing a club walk that can cater for all walking abilities.
Steve and Sharon Coello had walked the route from St Mawgan to Mawgan Porth.
Sharon mentioned that it could be a good walk for the club.

That is how 15 eager walkers met outside The Falcon Inn St Mawgan on a chilly but fine Saturday morning in April.
The traditional group photo was taken (there’s always a passer-by handy), before we set off for the coast. Country lanes and bridle paths was the route through woodland that was keen to show that Spring was truly here. Blue Bells and Wild Garlic were sheltered by branches showing new leaves bursting from their buds.
The pace was leisurely so that we all got to Mawgan Porth beach together.
It’s not often that during a club walk we get to walk on a beach. It was then that Pete and Jan couldn’t wait to get back to the pub before eating a pasty.

The return walk was again taken through very nice countryside. What was noticeable was how peaceful and quiet the area was.
After about an hour from the beach we arrived back from where we had started.

The Falcon Inn was the reward for our efforts. As the weather had remained fine and dry with the sun making a delayed appearance, it was pleasant enough to sit out in the very nice beer garden of the pub. Those that wanted, took advantage of ordering food and I think we all enjoyed a drink from the bar.

To conclude: A new walk-in unfamiliar territory, but one I’m sure will be done again by many of us.
Below are a few photos taken to show our adventure.
