PSC 2025 Annual Prize Giving
What an absolutely fantastic turnout we had on Saturday for our Annual Prizegiving!
As always, we excelled ourselves in the buffet offerings, creating a spread fit for a King! After Stacey declared the buffet open, we filled our plates and enjoyed some banter whilst enjoying our meal.
Then it was time for the prizes….
It was lovely to see some newer members getting engraved glassware and silver trophies, with Geoff Holden and Charlie Nunn (our new Sailing Secretary) achieving phenomenal successes throughout the season 🏆🎉🏆 with (no surprise here…) Jeremy and Suzanne sweeping the overall board with their fantastic sailing! 🏆🏆🏆⛵️⛵️⛵️
After the formal prizegiving, our former Rear Commodore Alex took to the stage with a well prepared and thoughtfully assembled selection of unconventional awards!
This really did cause great hilarity across the whole clubhouse with Bruce, sadly not present, winning the “RAC award” of a pink toolbag so he can continue with his “bodge” repairs and Emma receiving the “Relievers award” of a smelly dinghy boot with a can of “Piss off” spray!
The Conde Nast Award went to the Elliotts for their international travel exploits with a helpful A-Z of Cornwall.
The entertainment continued with Pete K receiving the “floppy stick award” of a miniature broken mast, closely followed by the “Green Chameleon Award” going to Tony for his attempts to blend into the lime bucket chair with his lime shirt at an earlier event in the year!
Let’s not forget the aptly presented “Unsung Hero Award” which was given to Ken for his many behind the scenes contributions to the club and this was a red cape and mask in true superhero style.
Next up was the “Big Pants Award” which was presented to two keen to sail in any weather, fiercely determined and enthusiastic members, Stacey and Andrew K.
The final award was a huge box of assorted items aptly named “The Borrowers Award” which was duly awarded to Charlie!
I would like to personally thank Alex for his efforts in creating this highlight to a fantastic evening and let’s hope this has set a precedent for future years!
Stacey then took to the floor and selected to play the theme tune from “This is your life” whilst reading some anecdotes from his big red book in a build up to a most deserved and rare award (1st one that I have seen). The committee had decided earlier in the year that Paddy should be given “Honorary Life Member” status for his unprecedented 11 years as Commodore along with his compelling commitment to the club.
Stacey presented him with a framed limited edition print of Jenny’s beautiful painting of Porthpean.
Paddy’s name will very soon be added to our “Honorary Life Members” board above the bar.
Paddy admitted being somewhat speechless by the presentation and certainly his award was an extremely befitting end to a fantastic prizegiving evening! 🎉🏆🎉🍾
There is no doubt that everyone had a fabulous time and it was a highly successful and enjoyable night!🤩🤩
