Club Walk Porthscatho

After what seems like weeks of unsettled and rainy weather, organising a club walk comes with some trepidation.

It was Steve Coello that suggested this circular walk on the Roseland peninsular, and it fell to him to do a bit of organising. After details were circulated and numbers assured we had to choose from the menu of The Plume of Feathers PH Porthscatho our preferred after walk dining venue. The day of the walk arrived and the weather could hardly have been better.

Sunshine and breezy but DRY !!17 eager walkers met in the public car park at Gerrans at 10am. Owners well behaved dogs are always welcome and I think we had a record turn out, 6 dogs of all shapes and sizes. It was not long before walking boots were laced and the photo shoot began. We left the car park and walked along quiet country lanes and Bridle paths towards Porth Barn adjacent to Towan beach. A short break was taken for a comfort stop!, We went onto the vast stretch of sand that is Towan beach and starting the Coastal Path section back towards Porthscatho. The views here were truly wonderful with clear blue skies and sea.

2 1/2 hrs after starting out we were back in civilisation and made our way to The Plume of Feathers. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and shown to an upstairs room that had been prepared for us. Once orders were confirmed it was not long before the food was brought to our tables. What a selection of dishes we had chosen. Everyone seemed happy with their choices and going by the empty plates at the end it was just what we wanted. After a relaxing meal with drinks all that was left was to leave the pub and walk uphill !! back to the car park at Gerrans.

To sum up, another great Porthpean Walk. Thanks go to Steve and Sharon ( who sorted the dining ) and to all those that joined in. What a way to spend a quiet Saturday by the coast. Many photo’s were taken and a selection are attached –  x Tony
